Records, 1968-1998.

Records document the activities of the LAAC from its beginning, including meeting minutes of the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees and various committees and task forces. There are audits or financial statements from 1979 to 1993. There are extensive files on grant applications received from various local arts groups as well as grants to potential donors. The local organization files contain much general information regarding the groups. The records of Fargo's Cultural Environment Commission, which LAAC took over its responsibilities in 1988, are present. There are files on events sponsored by LAAC, awards given to it and directories of arts organizations it compiled and published. The Coordinated Arts Fund contains records related specifically to the fund raising efforts of the LAAC from 1976 to 1984. The record include campaign literature, financial statements, correspondence, subject files, and grant applications. Some local organizations represented in the collection include Red River Valley Chapter, American Guild of Organists, Children's Museum at Yunker Farm, FM Ambassadors, Fargo-Moorhead Area Youth Symphony, Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale, Fargo-Moorhead Civic Opera, F-M Community Theatre, F-M Communiversity, Fargo-Moorhead Sweet Adelines, F-M Symphony Orchestra, Gooseberry Park Players, Jazz Arts Group, KCCM, KDSU, Lake Agassiz Concert Band, Lake Agassiz Girls Chorus, Mahkahta Dance Theatre, Plains Arts Museum, Plains Public Television, Red River Boys Choir, Red River Dance and Performing Company, and Trollwood Performing Arts School to name some.

The Lake Agassiz Arts Council was organized as the result of a 1970 Junior League of Fargo, N.D. and Moorhead, Minn. survey relating to support for a fine arts festival. In 1977 it was restructured to take a more active leadership role in the community and to sponsor the Coordinated Arts Fund Drive.
