Correspondents include Henry Laurens (1775), Joseph Alston (1802) and others, including Nathanael Greene: letter, 5 May 1783, Moultrie to Greene, acknowledging Greene's letter announcing end of War for Independence, "Cincinnatus himself never returned to his plow better pleased."; and letter, 15 Mar. [17]95 Col. Christian Senf to Moultrie, re treatment of Moultrie's African-American slaves hired out to work on the [Santee Canal] Company, and promising to investigate their complaints of mistreatment; and letter, 13 Oct. 1802 (New York, N.Y.) to Pierce Butler, "I am sorry to hear the fever rages so much in Philadelphia. I hope your family will keep clear of it, it has prevented many Carolina families from seeing that great city."
