Telling her [Charles] Dickens is staying near him for the week; noting that his brother [Charles Allston Collins] will return to London with Dickens next Monday; reporting that he is working diligently on his writing; complaining that he will be "literally driven away by the extortions of the Broadstairs people" and that "no moderate income can cope with their demands"; asking her to send a check for £25.
