Land grant certificate, No. 9830, issued to James from the U.S. General Land Office at Fort Wayne (Ind.), dated May 30, 1837. The certificate was printed on velum, with additional information added in handwriting, and includes the official General Land Office stamp. It was signed by Martin Van Buren, President, A. Van Vure (sp?), Secretary, and William Garland, Receiver of the General Land Office. The grant was recorded in v. 21, p. 19.
