Family papers, 1791-1900.

Family papers, 1791-1900, undated include: personal and business papers of seven members of the Bronson and Brinckerhoff families. Members documented include: Isaac Bronson's wife, Anna (Olcott) Bronson, two of Isaac's daughters, Ann and Harriet, and his son, Oliver Bronson; Arthur Bronson's wife Anna Eliza (Bailey) Bronson; Frederic Bronson (1802-1868)'s wife Charlotte (Brinckerhoff) Bronson, and Laban Bronson. Also included are six volumes of scrapbooks and letterbooks, 1799-1899, of Frederic Bronson (1850-1900). The volumes mostly concern Verna Farms, the Bronson family estate, and horse and stock breeding. (The Clarke Historical Library also has the collections of Isaac, Frederic, and Arthur Bronson and related families, the Troups and Brinckerhoffs.).

Bronson (1760-1838) was a New York banker, businessman, land speculator, money lender, and promoter of westward expansion into what was the Northwest Territories, including Michigan. He served in the Second Regiment of Light Dragoons of the Connecticut during the American Revolutionary War as a surgeon's mate. Bronson married Anna Olcott (1764?-1850) and they had ten children.
