Jacques Campau was the first of four children born to Jean Louis Campau (1702-1774) and Marie Louise Robert. Jacques, born March 30, 1735 in Detroit (Mich.) married Catherine Menard (died in 1781 or 1782) on Aug. 17, 1761. They had twelve children. He married Francoise Navarre, a widow, on Jan. 5, 1784. They had no children together. He was a pioneer settler of Detroit (Mich.). During the disastrous battle of Bloody Run in 1763, Major Rogers and his soldiers hid in Campau's home. Campau served a...
