Boulder County Pioneer articles. 1912-1913.

This folder contains biographical anecdotes written by Stuart Elizabeth Loyd and published weekly, in the Boulder County Miner newspaper from 29 August 1912 until 20 March 1913, under the title "Boulder County Pioneers." The articles were found on microfilm at the Archives, Norlin Library, University of Colorado at Boulder, printed, then photocopied onto archival paper. In addition to biographical information and early life in Boulder County, the articles contain anecdotes on: crossing the plains and Indians (Anthony Arnett, Auntie Baker, Aunty Brookfield, George F. Chase, and John H. Dubois), Burlington and the beginnings of Longmont (Elmer F. Beckwith), the University art collection and the Congregational church (Dr. J. Raymond Brackett), and fiddling (A.G. Burke).

J. Harry DuBois (1903-1986) was an American businessman and author in the field of plastics. Born September 18, 1903 in Clarion, Iowa, he began at General Electric Co.'s molding division in 1927. Stuart Elizabeth Loyd was born at Central City in 1884 to Joseph L. and Elizabeth A. Loyd. In the 1890s the Loyd family lived in Sunnyside and in 1910 lived at 2529 5th Street. She was an Assistant in the English Literature Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Shortly after writing these articles she moved to California and married Dr. Daniel E.
