Author, born in Woodsville, New Hampshire in 1894, studied at Radcliffe (A.B. 1918, A.M. 1922) and did further graduate work 1926-1927, 1928-1929. Was first employed as an advertising copy editor, then editor of Memoirs of the Harvard Dead in the War against Germany, and of Harvard Africa Studies.
