Clint O. Dumm collection. 1909-1970.

This collection comprises thousands of photographs by Boulder, Colo., taken by photographer Clint Otis Dumm, showing a broad spectrum of scenes in Boulder and surrounding areas. The photos (printed from negatives in 1988-1989 through an LSCA grant) are dated, identified and cataloged to the envelope level. Approximately half of the views are of natural scenery; about one quarter are portraits, and about one quarter show parades, children playing and other activities.

Clint Dumm at one time worked as a photo finisher at Yocom Studios. The Carnegie Branch Library has an extensive collection of his own photographs (collection number BHS 129) from the Boulder Historical Society. Clint Otis Dumm was a Boulder native. He was a member of the First Methodist Church from 1903-1970. Dumm worked as a bus driver, stone cutter, chauffeur and at various other jobs. Clint Dumm at one time worked as a photo finisher at Yocom Studios. He evidently devoted a significant part of his life to taking these photographs and indexing them. He created two indexes: a consecutive index by photograph number, and an alphabetical index of subjects.
