Brainard's Hotel collection 1880. 1880.

ArchivalResource

Brainard's Hotel collection 1880. 1880.

Also 2 cash books for 1878 and 1890. These were found by developer Bob White while attempting to restore the Arnett Building. The cash books suffered water damage during hurricane "Hugo" in the Virgin Islands, where Mr. White currently lives and had taken the books. This collection comprises the Brainard's Hotel's register for the period March 6 - Dec. 18, 1880 and a menu for the grand banquet given at the hotel on 21 Aug. 1880 in honor of President and Mrs. U. S. Grant. Many travellers stopped at the Brainard for meals, and apparently they registered each time they did so. The register therefore contains the signatures of many prominent citizens of Boulder and elsewhere.
