Jesup bills and receipts, 1818-1826.

This is a personal collection of the household bills and receipts of Thomas Sidney Jesup covering the period 1818-1826. Jesup was first assigned as Quartermaster General of the Department of the Army in 1818. He lived in a boarding house near his work until he married. After his marriage in 1823, his bills and receipts reflect the cost of setting up a household. He did much of his purchasing from Georgetown merchants. At the time Georgetown was a thriving port city.
