Memorandum of the leases of the stalls and cellars in Faneuil Hall Market, 1877-1919.

The memorandum book kept by Superintendent George E. McKay lists stalls leased from April 1, 1877 to January 1, 1919. The leases were for five years until 1909, when they became ten-year leases. The following information was recorded for each entry: number of stall(s) or cellar, name of lessee, quarterly rent of stall(s) or cellar, total quarterly rents and annual rent. Separate lists were kept for Faneuil Hall Market and New Faneuil Hall Market. Also included were rents on outside stands and, in later years, rooms in Quincy Hall over Faneuil Hall Market. McKay also recorded raises and reductions in rents voted by the Board of Alderman.
