Correspondence, 1890, 1907, and undated, includes four brief letters and one transcription to four different people about the memorial (statue) to be erected in Monroe (Mich.) in honor of her late husband, George Armstrong Custer. Most of the letters were sent from New York or Buffalo (NY), where Mrs. Custer lived after 1876.

Custer's paternal ancestors, Paulus and Gertrude Küster, came to the North American English colonies around 1693 from the Rhineland in Germany, probably among thousands of Palatines whose passage was arranged by the English government to gain settlers in New York and Pennsylvania.
