Abraham Lincoln (born February 12, 1809, Sinking Spring Farm near Hodgenville, Kentucky-died April 15, 1865, Washington, D.C.) was the sixteenth President of the United States from 1861 until his death by assassination. John Robert Cravens was born in Madison County Indiana on November 22, 1819. He graduated from Indiana University with an A.B. in 1840 and later with an A.M. at an unknown date. He was a lawyer and one of Indiana's leading statesmen. He edited the Madison Banner, an organ of the Whig Party. On February 1, 1844, he married Drusilla Lanier. They had eleven children.
