Richard Austin Rice (1846-1936) was born in Madison, Conn., and graduated from Yale with an A.B. degree in 1868 and a B.D. degree from the Divinity School in 1872. He worked as professor of Modern Languages at the University of Vermont, 1875-1881, before joining the faculty of Williams College, also as professor of Modern Languages. Claudia Hill was born in New Haven, Conn., on December 6, 1960. She received a B.A. from Colgate University (1982), an M.A. in Art History from the University of Chicago (1990), and an M.L.S. from SUNY Albany (1996). She worked at the Fogg Museum, Harvard University in 1985, held a National Endowment for the Arts Curatorial Internship at the Williams College Museum of Art from 1992 to 1993, and served as an Editor for the J.
