This collection contains biographical information, correspondence, research materials, subject files, printed materials, and photographs. The biographical information includes materials on Peet and ISU graduate Goldie Rouse Buckner; the research materials series contains experiments, book references, radio talks, and data. The course materials series contains Household Equipment Dept. meeting minutes, advising handbooks, exams and quizzes, and class handouts. The bulk of this collection however, lies in the Publication series, which consists of book revisions and articles, pamphlets, and brochures on brand name household products. This series is organized alphabetically by type and the topics include: heating and air conditioning, appliances, laundry and textiles, vacuuming, lighting, refrigeration, and wiring.

Household equipment professor. Louise Jenison Peet (1885-1983) was born in 1885, in Cambridge, Mass., to Frank Alvin and Jeannie (Macquarrie) Jenison. She received her B.A. (1908) in Chemistry and Mathematics and an M.A. (1911) in Chemistry and Physics from Wellesley. Peet also attended the University of Zurich, in Switzerland, where she studied Chemistry from 1912 to 1913. In 1916, she married William Hartwell Peet, and they moved to Ames, Iowa in 1927.
