Household equipment professor. Louise Jenison Peet (1885-1983) was born in 1885, in Cambridge, Mass., to Frank Alvin and Jeannie (Macquarrie) Jenison. She received her B.A. (1908) in Chemistry and Mathematics and an M.A. (1911) in Chemistry and Physics from Wellesley. Peet also attended the University of Zurich, in Switzerland, where she studied Chemistry from 1912 to 1913. In 1916, she married William Hartwell Peet, and they moved to Ames, Iowa in 1927.

Peet received her Ph.D (1929) in Nutrition and Physiology from Iowa State and was Professor and Head of the Household Equipment Department at Iowa State from 1931 until 1953. She was an author and co-author of several books, including Household Equipment and Homemaker's Equipment Guide.
