White Mountain Research Station administrative records, 1949-1996.

Correspondence, contracts and proposals, publications, committee minutes and reports, and photographs documenting the history and research activity of one of the first high altitude research stations in the U.S. Materials transferred from UCB Archives to UCSD Archives in May 1998 are administrative records created during the directorships of Nello Pace and William J. Welch, both UCB faculty. Materials transferred from WMRS Director's office in May 1998 are administrative records largely created during the directorships of Clarence Hall (UCLA) and Frank Powell (UCSD). Arthur C. Smith, a naturalist associated with UC Davis and David B. Dill, founder of the Harvard Fatigue Laboratory, are prominent in the files. The collection also contains two films made about the White Mountain Research Station, one in 1960 and the second in 1991.
