Collection consists of Pennsylvania and New Jersey legal documents and correspondence. Bulk includes Warren County Court and New Jersey Supreme Court records, such as cases, subpoenas, and summaries of decisions (1820s-1860s). Also, papers of Warren County residents, including deeds, court records, wills, and receipts. Of note is an account book (1857-1863) from a saw mill and letters (1824-1888) addressed to Samuel Holstein, a Mercer County (Pa.) lawyer. Collection also contains legal documents and correspondence of prominent men from Warren County, N.J., including deeds, letters, maps (1762-1893), and petitions of the Croxall family, concerning the Belvidere estate in the township of Oxford. Also, papers of Garret D. Wall (1783-1850), a U.S. Senator and lawyer based in Trenton; Peter D. Vroom (1791-1873), a New Jersey governor; his son, Garret D.W. Vroom (1843-1914); and Dr. Robert Bond (1853-1891), as well as public records from other New Jersey counties. Of interest are letters and receipts (1780-1831) of Stephen and John Dutilh, owners of a merchant shipping firm in Philadelphia (Pa.).

Garret Dorset Wall was born in Middletown Township, New Jersey, on March 10, 1783. At the age of 15, Garret Wall moved to Trenton, and became a student-at-law in the office of General Jonathan Rhea, who was the clerk of the New Jersey Supreme Court. New Jersey lawyer, politician, and diplomat. In 1838 he was elected to Congress, but because of irregularities in the returns, he and several other winning candidates were not confirmed.
