Maybee was a history professor at CMU. The Clarke Historical Library has several of his publications and his papers. The Advisory Committee developed plans for major events, publications, re-dedications of campus buildings, presentations, and a historical marker for CMU's 75th Anniversary. Once part of Central Michigan University, the "Club" was named for the state flower. Members included students and representatives from each dept. and class. High scholastic achievement was a requirement for student members. The Club was affiliated with the American Country Life Association. Members traveled to bring cultural events and experiences, such as choruses, plays, and operettas to rural schools.
