Thomas J. Gallagher worked as a handler for the United States Glass Company for thirty years. His involvement with the Glass Workers' Union prompted a career in politics beginning with a Republican seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, The Pittsburgh City Council, and finally interim mayor of Pittsburgh. David Leo Lawrence was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on June 18, 1889, and was educated at the University of Pittsburgh.
