The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was created in 1960 at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Its purpose was to coordinate the student protest movement. Albert S. Manley was born in 1924, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and graduated from Columbia University.
