The collection consists of Mr. Furlong's research notes for his dissertation, Catholic social action in Brazil, 1922-1939. These research notes fall into three categories: articles, index cards, and various documents. Box one contains 126 items, largely photocopied articles from both English and Portuguese sources. Included are also copies of essays written by students. Box two contains index cards and other miscellaneous materials.
