Summary: Collection consists of images from the School of American Research and two individuals connected to the School: William P. Hale and A.E. White. Images are of archaeological work and New Mexico exhibits, museum buildings in Santa Fe, identified persons, towns, and parks and monuments. Images of archaeological work consist of excavations in Cuyamungue, New Mexico and Guatemala. Images of Guatemala were taken by William Hale. Images of persons include Edgar L. Hewett and his wife Donzietta. Images of towns, taken by A.E. White, include views of Santa Fe and its fiesta. Images of parks and monuments consist of Pecos Pueblo, the Abo Mission, and the San Jose de los Jemez Church. Also included is a hand-tinted postcard of Taos Pueblo.

Hale, William Benjamin, 1871-1924

Hale (1809- ) served as Attorney General of Michigan, 1851-1855, and Michigan State Senator from Wayne County, 1845-1846. He was a N.Y. lawyer who moved to Mich. in 1837. Hale also served as prosecuting attorney in Wayne County, alderman, and a reporter for the Supreme Court of Michigan. He moved to Calif. and later died there in 1874.
