The collection consists of records of the AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education, Area 3 from 1947-1979. The collection contains primarily correspondence and printed material from the state labor federations in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia pertaining to national political campaigns (1972, 1976). Also includes congressional voting records gathered by COPE (1947-1957); field reports and activity plans sent from AFL-CIO COPE, Area 3 director Clement Dowler to AFL-CIO COPE national director Alexander Barkan (1972-1976); and information relating to the AFL-CIO Executive Council, AFL-CIO Region VI (Atlanta), and the National Council of Senior Citizens. The collection contains no records for the period 1957-1969.
