Biographical note: Photographer; Henry Buehman was born in Bremen, Germany, the son of Ludwig and Annie Buehman, on May 14, 1851. In 1868, with three years of photographic experience under his belt, Henry emigrated to the United States. He first went to New York, then to California. Pioneer Arizona surveyor; appointed U.S. deputy land and mineral surveyor in 1880, served four years as Pima County surveyor and three years as City Engineer of Tucson, and in 1893 was appointed chief clerk in the U.S. Surveyor General's Office. Photographer and businessman; Willis P. Haynes worked as a photographer in Tucson beginning in 1886. During the 1890's, Haynes practiced photography while working for the census bureau, the Nogales customs office, and the U.S. District Court in Prescott.
