Aguiar Collection, 1825-1878.

Documents, mostly government decrees, from the State Governments of Occidente, Sinaloa and Sonora which demonstrate the mechanics of setting up new governments. A number are printed, but most are holograph documents. These decrees deal with law and legislation, the judicial system, the treasury, the military, and other departments. Some of the government officials issuing decrees include Francisco Iriarte, Manuel Maria de la Vega y Rabago, Jose︠ Maria Gaxiola, Manuel Maria Bandera, and Jose︠ Jorganes.

Aguiar was a treasury official in Cosala︠, Mexico. He collected these documents while the present Mexican States of Sonora and Sinaloa were being formed from the former State of Occidente.
