Dale papers, 1919, 1926-1927.

Correspondence chiefly between Dale and F.S. Dellenbaugh concerning their ideas about the route taken by Jedediah Smith and Dellenbaugh's role in the Powell expedition of 1871-1872. Also present are three letters in answer to Dale's request for information about Jim Bridger, an early guide for Western travelers. These three letters are from Gen. Caleb H. Carlton, J.K. Wood, and William H. Bisbee and provide their recollections of Bridger as well as their own experiences.
