Papers consist of personal and family correspondence, professional and business correspondence, business and financial records, legal documents, papers pertaining to Conner's activities in social, political, and religious organizations, and other items. Personal and family correspondence (1900-1938) concerns family matters, social life, Conner's literary, cultural, and political interests, hunting and game preservation, Princeton alumni, and other matters. Correspondents include Thomas Della Torre, members of the Allston family, and many others. Legal case papers, including correspondence, notes, depositions and other legal documents, concern Conner's work for businesses and individuals in cases involving patents, insurance claims, real estate, claims against the U.S. government, debt litigation and collection, foreclosures, and estate settlements and and disputes, including much material regarding the estate of Conner's mother-in-law Adele A. Vanderhorst and the management and attempted sale of Kiawah Island (S.C.). Other professional and business correspondence (1900-1938) concerns Conner's legal work for various clients, including Allston family land and trust matters (some involving Chicora Wood Plantation), real estate transactions, and other cases. Business papers pertaining to the Midland Timber Co., the Exchange Brokerage Co. A member of several social and cultural organizations, Conner was also chairman of the Charleston County Democratic Executive Committee and served as a vestryman of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Daughter of Robert F.W. Allston (1801-1864) and Adele Petigru Allston. In 1863 she married Arnoldus Vanderhorst (1835-1881). Their children included Adele Petigru Vanderhorst (who married Mazyck P.
