Most are letters are written just after the Raid of Ruthven, (August 23, 1582), when Sir George was the English ambassador to Scotland. Correspondents include: Dr. Robert Bellamie, Burghley, Walsingham, Warwick, Leicester and Sir Christopher Hatton. Includes: 3 drafts from Sir George to Burghley, to the queen and to the lord chancellor (Sir Thomas Bromley), Leicester and Warwick, September 1582; an autograph letter signed from the nine "noblemen now resident with the king" - the Earls of Gowrie, Glencairn and Mar, the abbot of Dunfermline, R. [Robert Pitcairn], Lords Boyd and Lindsay, the Master of Glamis (Sir Thomas Lyon), James Haliburton, and Sir Lewis Bellenden - to Queen Elizabeth, to send money and assistance, September 18, 1582 (10); and an autograph letter signed from Henry, Baron Hunsdon, governor of Berwick, to Robert Vernon, victualler at Berwick, together with a declaration and petition made by Vernon to Hunsdon concerning his financial position, 1575.

Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon (4 March 1526 – 23 July 1596), was an English nobleman and courtier. He was the second child of William Carey and Mary Boleyn and a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I.
