This collection comprises four items which were donated (separately) by Manwaring's son in 1933. They have been re-accessioned together at MS 13674. The first item is titled Volume II Extracts from Diary of William Henry Manwaring and concerns the Crimean campaign in 1854. It was written in 1895 and comprises a bound volume of 178 pages. It was originally accessioned in the 1933 stockbook at 406283 and is located in Box 15/4. The second item is an Original Manuscript Describing Later Outrages, Pursuit and Death of Daniel Morgan Bushranger. This was written in 1865 and includes press cuttings dated 1892-1893. It consists of 23 pages plus two pages of press cuttings. It was originally accessioned in the Miscellaneous Register at M5114 and is located in Box 15/5. The third item is Extracts from Evidence taken by Parliamentary Commission on the Victorian Police 1882-1883. Supplementing "Notes from Diaries" by Wm. Hy. Manwaring. It consists of 14 pages plus a covering letter from Manwaring's son. It was accessioned twice, in the Miscellaneous Register at M5121 and the H Register at H12517. It is located in Box 15/8. The fourth item is Notes from his Diaries ... compiled 1897, and covers his experiences as a member of the Victorian Detective Police and an account of Robert O'Hara Burke with whom Manwaring served at Castlemaine. It comprises a bound volume of 286 pages. It was originally accessioned in the 1933 stockbook at 405323 and is located in Box 15/9. Items one and four had material removed from them by Manwaring's son prior to being given to the Library.
