Conversion stories told by sister missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2002.

Jones analyzes the conversion stories told by proselytizing female missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She emphasizes the positive aspects of missionary stories told by females, who-unlike male missionaries-aren't required to go on missions. She believes that the positive emphasis prevalent in female missionary stories exists because the women telling the stories don't want to reveal the negative aspects of a mission and discourage women from becoming missionaries in the future. Jones concludes by identifying a pattern that is similar in all of her collected conversion stories: a willingness to listen to the tenets of another faith, a conflict with one of the doctrines of that new faith, and then a subsequent triumph over doubt or decreasing interest in the faith because of that doubt.

She focused her folklore project on female missionaries because she felt that they are an overlooked class in the male-centric domain of missionary folklore.
