July 2, 1814, letter from George Coalter of Fayetteville, Tenn., to George Washington Campbell, then Madison's treasury secretary, regarding the value of Campbell's lands in south central Tennessee (Bedford, Giles, Lincoln, and Franklin counties), and the welfare and education of relatives in the Fayetteville area. Coalter also discusses war news and urges the wider distribution of acts of Congress.
