Jonathan Ashley, the son of Jonathan and Abigail (Stebbins) Ashley was born in Westfield, Mass., Nov. 11, 1712. He graduated from Yale College in 1730, where he studied theology. Jonathan was a teacher in Suffield, Conn., until Nov. 8, 1732, when he was ordained as pastor of the Congregational Church in Deerfield.
