Richard Benjamin Hunter (b. 1870) was a student at the University of North Carolina in the Department of Engineering from 1888 to 1892, when he was awarded a Bachlor of Engineering degree. At that time, the University's engineering curriculum was heavily weighted toward civil engineering with major courses directed toward mechanical drawing, topographical mapping, and land surveying.
