Warrant receipts, 1837-1913.

Receipts were signed by waranteees or their representatives acknowledging warrant receipt from Auditor of Public Accounts. Each warrant entry includes warrant issuance date, number and amount; warantee name; payment purpose (i.e., services or labor performed; supplies or equipment provided; fees refunded); and warantee or representative signature.

In 1865 counties and cities were authorized to issue bonds in support of subscriptions to the capital stock of railroad companies or in aid of any public improvement (L. 1865, p. 44).
