Also, contains an address by Du Bois at the opening plenary session of the Conference on the Encyclopaedia Africana, University of Ghana, 18 December 1962; provisional draft of proposed plans for the encyclopedia, 15 November 1962; conference program; and information reports (#1-2, 4-11, 13) for cooperation toward an Encyclopaedia Africana, 1962- 1967.

W. E. B. Du Bois was an American sociologist, socialist, historian, civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, author, writer and editor. Educated at Fisk University, he did graduate work at the University of Berlin and Harvard, where he was the first African American to earn a doctorate.
