Ruth Trammell Faulk earned an A.B. from Huntingdon College in 1931 and an M.S. from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, in 1947. She was assistant professor of English at Auburn from 1947 until her death in 1971. Her daughter, Carolyn Sue Faulk, earned a B.A. from A.P.I. in 1955 and a Ph. East Alabama Male College, sponsored by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was chartered in May 1856. Classes opened in 1859 in Auburn, Alabama, but the college closed during the Civil War. Reopening in 1866, the college became a land-grant institution in 1872 and changed its name to Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama.
