Manuscript journal, 1893-1897, Summerville, S.C., commenting on publication of her writing in a literary magazine; a hurricane and other weather conditions; trips to Charleston, S.C.; and social gatherings and various activites of the extended Simons family. Three typescript volumes, 1910, re fictionalized account of life on a lowcountry rice plantation, Cedar Grove [Comingtee?] ca. 1850 and 1880; including descriptions of Ashland plantation [Buck Hall?] and summer visits to a "pineland village" [Cordesville, S.C.]; includes dedication to J.A. Anderson and his two daughters of Lambertville, N.J., and explanatory notes by Alston Deas identifying persons and places represented.

Charleston, South Carolina preservationist, educator, author, and U.S. Army officer. Col. Alston Deas spent nearly sixty years in military service. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Deas later taught there and at The Citadel (Military College of South Carolina).
