Budd Udell was born on April 4, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From 1958 to 1961 he was the Composer and Arranger for the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. From 1962 to 1963 he was the Assistant Director of Bands at Indiana University, where he obtained a Masters in Music Education degree in 1965.
