He and his wife, Genevra Leslie Newell Wheeler, had three children, Christine, Maxwell S. and Clarence. Maxwell S. (1874-1957), an attorney, served as a vice-president and general counsel for the Larkin Company. He married Gertrude Leibee; they had one son, H.
