Records consist of statement of expenses for ceremonies, dated Nov. 1, 1824. Accompanying printed broadside ("To the Inhabitants of Concord") criticizes preferential treatment given to prominent citizens and protests payment for the reception through municipal taxation.

Soldier and statesman Lafayette (1757-1834), French hero of the American Revolution, invited by President Monroe to visit the United States, toured every state of the union during 1824-1825. He visited Lexington and Concord Sept. 2, 1824.
