Civil War collection of personal papers, 1856-1943, bulk 1861-1865.

Collection primarily provides personal impressions of the war through diaries, letters and reminiscences of Union soldiers, mostly from Michigan. Other material includes: discharge certificates, enlistment forms, photographs, circulars, and pension records. The library has added copies of the brief personal service histories found in the Record of service of Michigan volunteers in the Civil War 1861-1865 to the folders of Michigan soldiers.
