Nathaniel Pryor Reed was born on July 22, 1933 in New York, New York. He received a B.A. from Trinity College in 1955, and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. The Dept. of Air and Water Pollution Control was created in 1969 (Ch. 69-109, Laws) to supersede the Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Commission. It was renamed the Dept. of Pollution Control in 1972 (Ch. 72-22, Laws).
