Papers consist of correspondence and miscellaneous items including receipts, accounts, and a membership certificate pertaining to the Folker family and the related Coward family. Letters are mainly related to family matters. Several pertain to the renting of a summer cottage in Cordesville, S.C.A letter (1850 April 26) from O.F. Folker to Eugenia Folker describes the funeral of John C. Calhoun in Charleston, South Carolina. A letter (1859 Dec. 19) from A. Coward at Yorkville, S.C. to an unknown individual concerns a "bold and insolent" slave named John who is to be placed in the work house or sold. Certificate (1868) is for O.F. Folker's membership in the Freemasons, South Carolina Lodge No. 73.
