This collection includes two photographs of wood carver Kate E. Perry Mosher. The first photograph dates from ca. 1880s and is a formal, posed photograph of Mosher at age 40-50. The second photograph dates from ca. early 1920s and is a formal, posed photograph of Mosher at about age 85.

The Southern Cross of Honor award, which later became the Cross of Military Service, originated on Oct. 13, 1862 as an act of the Confederate Congress to recognize the courage and good conduct of officers, non-commissioned officers and privates of the Confederate army.
