Records of grants by the Governor to the United States from the Virginia Land Office, / 1874-1908.

These records contain deeds and plats of sites conveyed to the United States government by Virginia for the construction of "light houses, beacons, or other aids to navigation," according to instructions given in an act of the General Assembly passed April 16, 1874. The earliest conveyance is dated August 3, 1874, and latest September 6, 1886. The texts of the transfers of four sites, three surveyed in 1888 and one in 1908, have been recorded in Grant Books 120 and 122. The final survey is for lands included in a proposed reclamation scheme at Fort Monroe, Virginia.
