In 1888 she married Charleston (S.C.) merchant Daniel Huger Bacot (1847-1920). Their children included: Daniel Huger Bacot (b. 1888), Walter Rhett Bacot (b. 1899), and Barnwell Rhett Bacot (b. 1891). After receiving his doctorate from Harvard in 1922, he taught at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and at Temple University in Philadelphia (Pa.). Bacot was a proof reader, reviewer, and feature and editorial writer for The News and Courier (Charleston, S.C.) for 31 years.
