Williams, and a handpainted memorial (n.d.) honoring Charleston union members who served in World War II.

African American labor union organized in 1885. In June 1900, Local No. 1 was chartered as a subordinate unit of the Bricklayers and Masons International Union of America. In 1910 the name of the union was changed to the Bricklayers, Masons, and Plasterers International Union of America. Another name change occurred in 1975, when the union became the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen.
