John Hampton, Henry County, [Va.], re directions for delivering supplies to the "Waggon Master" for Thomas Sumter's command; letter, 8 June 1789, "To the Hon[ora]ble Court of Lexington Co[un]ty," S.C., reporting death of Jacob Brown, "who was to have appeared for persons at our next Court in a number of causes," and advising that Brown's brother would appear on behalf of his clients at September term. Receipt, 29 Sept. 1790, Congaree, [S.C.], signed by M. Winn [photocopy]; letter, 28 Sept. 1792, Charleston, S.C., from J[ames] Simons to Hampton, Edisto Mills, Orangeburg District, S.C., re sending fish, paper, and powder by boat to Edisto Sawmills; and document, Dec. 1792, re "Mr. Fishburns Mem[oran]d[u]m respecting Rich[ar]d Hamptons Will" after an accident at Edisto Sawmills.
